The Baldwin family, joined by Jet Blue, launches global online charity auction for breast cancer awareness month
Star-studded experiences on the auction block at CharityFolks.com to benefit The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund
New York, NY (Sept 24) – Passionate about his mother’s pursuit to find a cure for breast cancer, William Baldwin has assembled an unbelievable array of celebrity pals to contribute to a global online auction. Featuring amazing and otherwise unavailable experiences donated by friends like William Joel, Melissa Etheridge, Betsey Johnson, and brother Alec, the auction will be key to raising funds and awareness for The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, which his mother founded.
"I'm very excited to be part of such a new and innovative way to help raise worldwide awareness and critical funding for a disease that has affected so many lives, including my own. This combination of philanthropy, global technology and community can only help us to take further strides towards finding a cure," said William Baldwin.
The Baldwin family auction will feature something for everyone. Political buffs will start a bidding frenzy over the coveted opportunity to spend a day on the campaign trail with John and Elizabeth Edwards, while aspiring actors battle over the chance to achieve fame with a walk-on roles on NBC’s hit show “30 Rock” and ABC’s new series, “Dirty Sexy Money.”
Every kid in America will have their eye on one certain lot, but only one will have the chance to be on the road with superstar “Hannah Montana” as part of her crew. Other incredible music lots include VIP tickets, with backstage passes and meet and greets, for Melissa Etheridge, Reba McEntire or Sheryl Crow concerts, as well as a motorcycle personally designed by music legend Billy Joel.
For the adventure seekers, a one week’s stay at Betsey Johnson’s private villa in Mexico, Betsyville or the ultimate VIP Formula One package. If that doesn’t strike a cord, perhaps you’ll bid on a private falconry lesson & lunch with Bobby Kennedy Jr. What’s the most unique lot? Hard to say! Perhaps it’s the impossible to get table at famous Harlem eatery, Rao’s.
Jet Blue set the gold standard for giving when the airliner donated 18 roundtrip airfare packages to these already incredible auction lots.
The auction will launch on September 24, 2007 at 8am EST on www.charityfolks.com/baldwin and run for the month of October.
Since the organization’s inception, The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund has provided over $2.6 million dollars to researchers and has made tremendous progress in their crusade by continuing to add new research grants, 52 of which have been made to date.
